Has anyone registered Skype4COM.dll successfully on Vista X64?
I have placed the dll in SysWOW64, and running this command (regsvr32 "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Skype4COM.dll") showed a dialog that it was registered
but any VBScript that I execute displays a dialog
Error: Could not create object named "Skype4COM.Skype"
Code: 80040154
Source: WScript.CreateObject
Please advise

It appears that Skype4Com hasn't been properly tested yet on Vista X64. I would suggest that when you find this type of problems or bugs, then file it in Jira as in that case it will get an immediate attention from Skype stuff. I have done it myself this time -
https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-420Please feel free to add your comments or put yourself to Watch List so that you would receive emails when a comment is added.

Skype crashes when I attempt to load in in the following environments:
Vista Ultimate x64
Windows 2008 Server x64 (RC1)
Windows 2003 Server Enterprise x64
Symptoms: The Skype window appears as it is loading which says "Take a deep breath". I take a deep breath and hold it hoping that things go well. Then Skype crashes with a message saying there is a problem with the assembly. I am left with a choice to search online, which yields nothing or a close button. I click Close, exhale, and then Skype goes away.

drewsdesign,
Try to launch your application as x86.
See my post on similar issue here
http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=212341Current version of Skype4Com can be loaded only from x86 process.
