hey there!

i have a massive problem with video skype. i'll try to give all my specs and describe the problem, maybe someone has an idea on how to fix this wasntme.png

my pc:
sony vaio noteboook
- usb 1.1 (shoudln't matter but well...)
- amd athlon @ 1.3 ghz
- 256 mb ram
- integrated video chip, 8 mb video memory
- microsoft lifecam vx-1000 webcam (with mic)

whenever i start to send my video, the processor load shoots up to 100%, and every 10-20 seconds, my computer COMPLETELY FREEZES (as in, not even the mouse pointer responds) for about 5 seconds. the video freezes much longer on the reciever side, and then it is like 1 minute behind lipssealed.png (but it's not my internet speed, i've had great conversation quality (audio+video both ways) from germany to mexico...)

the incoming video also seems to be having troubles (extreme processor load, ...) but i feel its not as extreme as the outgoing video.

well thats my story, as you see tongueout.png
maybe someone knows a solution? it would be great!
thanks a lot

ps: can this have to do something with directx? (as i had to download it to enable video, but i have the most recent version 9.0c) just guessing though

It can be a DirectX problem, make sure that you have the latest version. Don't rely only on "9.0c", because Microsoft makes update releases every month or two, without changing that number. The latest was dated August 2007 the last time I checked.

Also, check for video driver updates, that can cause major problems.

What kind of microphone are you using, and what kind of sound board does your system have? This is also worth a look for updates; Realtek HD audio, for example, has had major problems recently.

What version of Skype are you using?

Generally drivers/direct X can cause the problem.
