So it's being discussed a lot, and people have great ideas.
But in all the discussions I was not able to find an actual IP phone that I can hook up to my wireless or wired network in the livingroom.
Does this mean it just does not exist...?

Hey NukeNiNe!
I think you are correct, none exist yet.
A PDA would work in the meantime. More functions than an IP Phone too.
Good Skyping...

Bill

Thanks Bill, appreciate your comments.
Now, I am an extremely (!) happy SE P900 user, so PPC is not on the investment proposal list
What is the minimum spec that works OK (wireless)?
I saw 400Mhz, PPC2003 - is that minimum spec that works ok?
Maybe you can give me some pointers, I'll go looking for that 2nd hand PDA as a skype terminal
Thanks again for your comments,
all the best,
Nuke

Hey NukeNile!
You are welcome.
I can't give you pointers on PDA because I do not have one.
I am waiting for the next generation. A number of my contacts use them and the sound quality was perfect.

Bill

Not possible with Skype to use an 'IP Phone' as Skype is a closed protocol not supporting the standards such as SIP for interconnectivity of various standard end-points.

A danish company i launshing a Sky compatiple phone at the end of the year. See news article here:
Its a dual phone that can connect to Sky and your normal phone plug so it works with both. Its cordless and will be priced below 1000DKr. (about 130 euros). You can see your online friends in its display.
It will be launched in Denmark at the end of the year and after that in the rest of europe.
You don't want to confuse it with a basic USB phone audio device and you don't need to use a softphone or dialer to place calls.
I am currently using the dualmode SIP capability to give me "SkypeIn" capabilities now via Stanaphone.com . I can also place calls via Stanaphone.com if I am not able to get through to the country I am trying to call using Skype.

How do you dial people on Skype from a phone like this?

The VPT1000 has its own speed dial directory phonebook you may fill with Skype contact names and optionally with international phone numbers and also SIP numbers if you have friends for example using the Free World Dialup network which is also quite popular.
To place a call to a Skype contact you just go offhook and dial a 1 or 2 digit speed dial code.
