When trying to configure my webcam, all i get is a gray preview window. The camera seems to be working though, if I make a video call my contact sees me perfectly, only I am unable to see myself.

In Amcap (came with my cam, by Microsoft) I can see myself perfectly and also in MSN Messenger.

I'm guessing it's an overlay issue but I can see my contact's webcam no problem.

I should note that I'm running Windows XP as a guest via VMware on a Linux host, so the guest does not have direct hardware access. There is limited or no DirectX support. Yet still I can use my webcam fine in all other programs. Is there some settings that I can tweak somewhere to get this working?
