Hi...first thanks for looking. I am wondering if you can set "call ordinary phones" to display "United States" by default. It gets tiresome scrolling through till I see USA everytime I make a SkypeOut call. I use Ubuntu 7.10. Thank You!

it certainly is a way of educating americans that they are not alone. But I think what Ripfox means is that he wants a customizable option where one can set the default country to where they wish to dial.

Skype uses your IP to guess your country. This works fine in most cases (here in Brazil, it's ok), but an option to customize it is missing.

It doesn't use IP to guess country in this dialog at the moment, but perhaps it should.

I'll schedule it for a later release, but it won't be in 1.4 I'm afraid. There are a number of clean-ups to the call ordinary phones section that will be implemented in the next major release. In future, the intended behaviour is:

1. If I have set a country previously, display this country.
2. If not, then use the country I have selected in my profile.
3. If I have no country in my profile, use a country based on my IP.

Yes...I knew I would get the usual grief about America being "The only country in the world". I am quite aware it is not. I am not your "typical" American, and to be sure, you should not assume such things, as it brings you down as well. That being said...this is a bug then? If I understand you right, there is no solution until a future release.
