I used our corporate name to sign up long ago to Skype (Skype Name for login). I then used the personalize/edit you profile option to change the "Full Name" field to my own name (from the Skype Name) However some people see in their Contact list my Skype Name while others see my Full Name. Why is this? Surely if I personalize and change the name to my Full Name users will see my name and not the skype name.

People will always see you Skype Name for log in the only way they can see you full name is for the to alter it on there Skype by right clicking on you contact in there Skype and choose rename them they can put in there what they like.
What ever name you put in you profile will only be seen by the people who do this alteration if you Skype Login name is different to you full name.

Hi Rocketman,
Thanks for your message.
I have to disagree with you. Most of my contacts are too technically stupid to know about this and most don't even know about the right clicking rename which I am very familair with.
It looks like all the older contacts that I am in touch with often see the Full Name, whereas the ones who are not on-line that often show the Skype login name.
Trust me whem I say this but I have checked with a number of them while they are on-line..

Sorry but it is impossible for anybody to see you full name in there contacts list unless the have done the rename process as I stated in my first post.

I can certify this as well. Some contacts (seem to be random) change from time to time from name to username and vice-versa. It must be a server problem of some sort. I have noticed that it might be happening when certain users don't go online for a long period of time. Then their name turns to username. But not always. And sometimes it changes back by itself.

Hi Dimitris. You are certifying it is impossible (by rocketman) yet in the next sentence you say you see it sometimes.
As software developer for 20 years I have learnt never to say impossible at all and further I can prove it on a few systems here in the office.
Of all the 10 contacts that are online now on my PC, if I right click any of them and go to View profile, you can clearly see the log in name, often in the form j_blogs. However if you look at the Contacts window the Skype name has been changed by THEM (personalization) to Joe Bloggs USA or similar and I know this to be correct because some of them have intentionally mis-spelt their names to be clever. I have not changed their names locally using "rename".
It appears that when you personalize and change your full name to whatever you want it propagates eventually to the Skype servers and displays that name on contacts for all to see. I can tell you that all of my contacts that have been on-line with me for years are CONSISTENTLY showing their personalized names and NOT their Skype login names. So it is not impossible.

You got me wrong Richard. I meant that I certify the problem exists. Wasn't that obvious?

If you change your name in your profile, thats how users will see you.
Indeed if you search for yourself uou will get BOTH full Name (what i set in profile) AND Skype Name (the name you signed up with)
Right clicking on someones name in your contact only allows you to change how YOU see that name (say a nick name )
