I posted here 2 days ago and it has been removed?? i came back on to thank GLADIATOR i think it was you who suggested i go to Spybot.I did paid a subscription but it did not remove the malware from my search capability through IE7.They do have a 24/7 online service and one of the staff sent me a file called Smitfraudfix which removed the malware immediately.

I followed your post too, and it's odd that it's disappeared. Perhaps because you had also posted the link to the scam website in your post? Spybot Search and Destroy is a free program, how did you have to pay a subscription???

Guys
I removed the post as I could NOT get rid of the dangerous links, I tried a number of times. Sorry to that.

SPYBOT is free (I downloaded it only yesterday) BUT a number of other companies offer with similar name and charge.

Anyway I am glad you got it sorted.

Maybe you could send me the fix file, to help others??

Regards

I would not advice getting or using such a file Gladiator.

No competent ad-removal program requires the use of a "fix file". To me this sounds like the typical scam malware removers, where you go to their site, their "scanner" detects that you have malware and then they offer to clean it up for a small subscription fee. The "fix file" then tells there adware scanner to now report no infections even though there were none in the first place....

Actually, the Smitfraud fix file is entirely legitimate and available for download from many reputable antispyware websites. Tools such as these are quite common and used by security forum helpers who remove infections manually that automated tools can't kill off. They usually use them in conjunction with tools such as HiJackThis and are safe to use - but I'd advise to use them under supervision from said helpers, as you can quickly get into a mess if you try to use these tools on your own and do something wrong.

Fair enough. But I've never found any malware yet that I couldn't manually remove myself (or that spybot/ad-aware etc couldn't remove). I'm always very nervous about using an executable to fix a malware problem....

Especially as this particular file came from a site which apparently charges a subscription fee to use Spybot Search and Destroy, which is a free program....

Thanks for the adcise both of you.
actually I never post 'download' links that have not been approved by SKYPE
