I have been a skype user now for over a year and lately I have been getting pestered with chat requests and "user requests your contact details" from unknown users which I cannot see how to stop. Some of these requests are clearly adverts and others are people I do not know and that are not on my contact list. I have my privacy settings set to allow communications from my contact list only however I still get these unsolicited messages. Skype 3.5.0.234 is the version I am using and the computer it runs on is clean (no malware/virii) Is this a known bug or something solvable? Thanks in advance.

Are these just 'requests' for authorisation or actual chats. 'requests' can not be stopped, but of course you just decline them.

Setting BOTH call AND chat privacy is essential to stop unwanted calls/chats and remember if you set to SKYPEME that overides your privacy

I have maybe a similar problem...

I accidentally left my status as SKYPEME for a few days.
Now, every time I open my Skype, after a few minutes, an chat window with many unknown users appears.

The user that appears in the top of the chat window is http : / / appley . ath . cx
However, I could not find this user, that looks like to be originating the chat, to block him.

I reported this issue already, but I got no reply from the Skype team.

Thanks, if someone knows how to solve this.

This is fine if I get one request every few days, but the number is multiplying and it's getting to be a nuisance, especially now that I have a Skype phone that is always on, even when my computer is off. The "requests" are mostly (or maybe all) from China, and include an entire advertisement. To refuse the request, I have to choose "details" on my phone before I can select "refuse", so like it or not, I've read their spam before I can block them. This is not a request, it's unsolicited advertising and if Skype doesn't develop a way to block it, it's going to get out of control. Maybe Skype should charge if a user makes more than a few requests per day. In the meantime, I would like a way to block all requests containing more than two or three words. If it's somebody I know or want to know, they don't need 50 words to make a request.
