Is anyone here using SLED10 SP1 and skype 1.4.x? Could you explain the packages you had to install to get skype 1.4.x running on SLED10 SP1? I am trying to install skype 1.4 and have installed the requirements:
* Qt 4.2.1+
* D-Bus 1.0.0
* libsigc++ 2.0.2
* libasound2 1.0.12
But still get a dependency error.

Hi -- what is the error?

Thanks,
Andrew.

A rpm -Uvh skype-1.4.0.99-suse.i586.rpm produces:
warning: skype-1.4.0.99-suse.i586.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID d66b746e
error: Failed dependencies:
libqt4-x11 >= 4.2 is needed by skype-1.4.0.99-suse.i586
libQtDBus.so.4 is needed by skype-1.4.0.99-suse.i586
libQtGui.so.4 is needed by skype-1.4.0.99-suse.i586
And an install from ZMD produces:
Unresolved dependencies:
There are no installable providers of skype
Marking this resolution attempt as invalid.

I have installed QT 4.2.1 from http://anorien.warwick.ac.uk/mirrors/suse/.../10.2/rpm/i586/ which is a mirror for my distro SLED10 SP1. This, i think, is my problem: this link has many qt4's to install. Which one is the correct 1? I have also tried to install D-Bus1-1.0 and i get "package already installed". I have D-Bus1-0.60 installed. I have libsigc+ installed and can install libasound2 without any problems.

Anyone?

I think SUSE is badly supported at this time. Try a forced install just to see it works.

Of the packages you have listed in this link, you'll need:

libqt4-4.2.1-20.i586.rpm
libqt4-x11-4.2.1-20.i586.rpm

I'm not sure if QtDBus is included in libqt4-x11 or not. It looks as though it is completely missing from this list, but see how you go.

Andy.

Well, it did not go at all! I installed those packages and still got dependency errors on libqt4gui. This is found in libqt4-x11 (i installed it) but still could not get skype 1.4 installed
