Make sure that another program is not relying on your webcam. IE, MSN messanger, Yahoo messanger, AOL etc.

Try shutting down every messanger that you have on, one by one, to see which one is causeing the problem.

If you do not have any other messangers running, then make sure the application that came with your webcam isnt runnning. IE, V lounge, ( Phillips Cam )

What Webcam are you using anyway?

Thanks for the reply ,I am using Logitech QuickCam messenger camera. I don't have any other programs running.
Not sure what you mean by application that came with webcam not running.

For Logitech, that would be "Logitech QuickCam Software", an application that gets installed automatically when you install the camera drivers. As far as I know, the only way it would cause this problem would be if you actually have the "Quick Capture" portion of it running, which actually shows a preview from the camera.

First, does Skype detect your camera when you go to Skype / Tools / Options / Video Settings? Is it in the drop-down list for "Select Webcam"? If you wait in that window for a short time do you see a video preview from your camera? If none of this is true, then there is something fundamentally wrong with your camera installation (as far as Skype is concerned), and you have to go back a few steps.

What version of Windows are you using, what version of Logitech software do you have installed, and if you have the QuickCam application software installed, can you see a video image from your camera in that?
