Full Version: SKYPE to Analog SMB PBX (Talkswitch)

We currently use a Talkswitch PBX into which analog POTS are plugged in.

What I am wanting to do is add 2 Skype 'lines' which will mainly be used for outgoing calls but will also provide SkypeIn for some international clients. We want to be able to use the hold/transfer/conference etc. features the Talkswitch provides as well the line hunt for a free line for outgoing calls.

There appears to be basically 2 different types system that might work. The telephone adaptor (where I think we could connect the handset port on the adapter to the incoming POTS port on the PBX), or a Skype PBX product, which usually connects more than 2 lines to a PBX. Between the two there is a BIG difference in price.

I am thinking I might be missing something? Hopefully someone here can explain whether I could use an adapter over a PBX connector to fulfil our needs.

TIA

Bump anyone?

Yes, you are right: a big difference in price.

Take products from ZiPCOM as an example. ZiPCOM offers two product line: SkyPBX, the 4-port Skype Gateway for business and PUPA (PSTN USB Phone Adapter) the one port Skype Gateway for end-users. Here are the major features with SkyPBX but are missing with PUPA:

- Multiple, simultaneous Skype calls in a single PC;
- Unique company code for the 4-ports to work as a Hunting group for Skype incoming calls
- Auto distribution of the incoming calls
- Network management features: call detailed records (CDR), call monitoring, status report, ...
- Commercial grade features to interface seamlessly with ALL PBX systems:
* Polarity reversal for call disconnection
* DTMF Relay for 2nd-stage dialing (into destination's PBX system)
* International tones: busy tone, dialtone, ring-back tone, etc.
* ...
- Integrated industrial PC platform

For serious business application, go for SkyPBX. It definitely worth the price. PUPA is designed for cheaper home, end-users.

PrettyMay, All you do is spam these forums with your crappy software. STOP SPAMMING, THANKS.

I'm interested in adding lines for my Talkswitch too as I have their 24 model with only 2 lines.

Using a Skype adapter doesn't increase the number of lines you can use with the TalkSwitch. Each Skype 'line' would use 1 Talkswitch line.

You can actually use VoiceGear SkyBridge manufactured by IndustryDynamics which can be connected to your TalkSwitch PBX using SIP. SkyBridge is an integrated Skype gateway appliance for SMB. It will enable you to make/receive up to 4 concurrent Skype calls directly from your existing office desk phones.

VoiceGear SkyBridge was officially tested for interop with TalkSwitch PBX systems and can provide you with up to 4 additional Skype lines without occupying any of the PSTN ports.
