Full Version: My computer is blocking Skype

I have been using Skype daily for many months with no major hitches. I spend about 20 Euros a day on Skypeout and rely on it heavily. This morning I just installed a new connection using an 8 mega baud / second connection with Orange's Livebox-DE50. As soon as this was installed Skype stopped working.

Some security settings must be blocking it. However:

- My Windows Firewall is turned permanently off
- Norton 360's firewall settings are set to 'Allow' for Skype

Why is my computer blocking it and what is the solution please?

..

It might not be your connection. There is a problem with the Skype network at the moment.

Oh, that's an interesting co-incidence. Thanks for advising me.

Actually, since my last post I was able to make a call lasting 15 seconds and then I got cut off.

Do you know when this problem started, please? And is there an anticipated timeframe for this issue to be expected to be resolved?

I noticed the problem at ~07:30 UTC. I've not seen an official timeframe for the fix. The forum and the Heartbeat page are the best places to get information.

I use both Skype and Vonage for business calls. Today one of those services is working, and doesn't charge a connection fee per call.
