Hello,
I'm using Linux for Desktop use as I need it for my programming (working at GPLHost, the company I created, see www.gplhost.com).
Since I was using Pulse audio for better sound quality and response, Skype was really a pain to use. Also, the 1.4.0.74 was taking 100% of my CPU at start-up. I was beginning to forget about Skype, which I loved so much.
Then on this early august, I have just tried that new 1.4.0.94 on my Etch Linux. I have to tell that I'm really surprised to see that all my worries have been fixed!!!
- Skype works with pulseaudio now (for sound in and out)
- Skype doesn't take 100% of the CPU at startup
- It seems that the user interface has been improved
In other words: THANKS A LOT FOR THE IMPROVEMENTS! I'm back to using Skype now.
Last thing: after a call, Skype takes 100% of the CPU again. It's not a real problem, as I can still exit Skype and restart it after a call, but this would be great if it could be fixed, still...
