Full Version: Cannot make/receive calls (nothing works after trying)?

Running Gentoo, KDE 3.3.0. I have only had one successful call and even that I don't know how I did (successful as in, being able to hear the other end, even though I was totally delayed talking to them). I can't get it working anymore.

Any time I try to make or receive a call, I simply cannot do anything - buttons to disconnect the call do not anything, and people will no longer receive messages sent from me (I can't receive them either). Absolutely nothing will work.

Messing with soundmanagers hasn't done a thing. Any ideas?

If you are running version 0.92.0.2, and your cantact's statuses do not update over time (need to restart skype for it to refresh the status), then your only choice is to downgrade to 0.91.0.12 until a newer version is available.
You will then probably need to delete the configuration files of skype (~/.Skype/shared.xml and ~/.Skype/<skypeuser>/config.xml) for skype to work correctly.

I know on some machines it works, on some not... Don't know why!

This is probably an issue with Skype's P2P network code. If you have troubles, then the only thing I can suggest, is to downgrade until a newer version than 0.92.0.2 is available (I had this problem also on my host. When downgrading I also had to remove the both xml files to get the older version working)
I know this issue is fixed in internal releases of Skype.

That's just it. I have tried downgrading, as I thought I stated - tried the most current 3 versions. No go. Still no calls go through, even after removing ~/.Skype (haven't had it running long enough to care about configuration or lists). I could give a rip about status updates, and that isn't the problem.

The problem is what when I try to make a call the client seems to hang all of its network activity, and the same goes for trying to receive a call. The buttons for connect / disconnect seem to do absolutely nothing afterwards. If I don't call, I can use the IM feature fine...until I try to make / receive a call, when it just doesn't work at all.

I really wish I knew what the problem was...

Edit: 2.6.8-gentoo-r4 (soon -r9, gentoo-dev-sources), KDE 3.3.0 (upgrading to 3.3.1 tonight).

I have the same problem/error.
Where can I get older rpm:s to downgrade?

Here a few urls for SuSE 9x versions (for the others, just adjust the filename):

Thanks mate!

Downgrading did help!
Seems like a nasty bug in the newest version.
Hope they release a newer version soon!
