Firstly, I did searched high and low for this topic because I dislike starting topics, but I couldn't find it.

I'm using Ubuntu 7.04 on a Intel Core Duo 2 (iMac 20") and I got this error message:

What hardware platforms is Skype for Linux available on?

Currently, only i386-32. If you have a platform that you'd like to use Skype for Linux on but cant now, come say it in the forum!

So, this is my platform. A i386 - 64bit. And I'm saying it in the forum. tongueout.png

Do I need to wait until Skype releases a compatible version, or is there some way I can get this to work?

I dont think they are supporting the 64bit architecture on linux yet. ( Somebody told me that they where but that they are having problems with it, however I cant verify that ) Ill try to do a little more research, however at the moment im about to fall asleep on my keyboard ( 2:20am over here ) ill keep you posted

I am not running Ubuntu but both the 1.3 and 1.4b have worked just fine with my Core2Duo and athlon64 based boxes with 64-bit Mandriva. I see no reason why it shouldn't work in Ubuntu.

You should try the static build... Not the package for Ubuntu as it is for i386 /32-bit/. There is a pinned topic here in this forum about 64-bit Ubuntu also. Check it here:
