We are a small community (non-profit, volunteer-run) radio station that wants to use skype to have remote broadcasts in the community. How can one play music and voice through skype?
We were thinking of having skype and a laptop with a connection wold be enough to broadcast a remote; and all sound would go through skype into our studio as a call-in.
The problem I'm having is when i play music and use a mic on my macbook, the only way i can get skype to pick the music is by picking up the music on the computer spekers and broadcasting it throug the mic input--it sounds bad.
Any ideas are appreciated!

Skype is designed for voice communication; transmitting music requires much higher bandwidth.

Hello,
I used to be involved non-comercial radio in college, and did a install of an automation system and some remote equipment, here is one way you could do your remotes, you need a small desktop nothing crazy, you would use this as a dedicated skype computer with the skype software loaded, run the skype computer into your station audio console as a source on one of your "pots", create an account for example make your studio skype computer, "studio-Skype", then your laptop at the remote location "remote-skype", use a mic input on your laptop, or if you have two mics, get a audio card for laptops and run your microphones into the mic input of a small mixer and run the output of the small mixer into the line input. open the skype software on both computers log onto the accounts, then connect to the username or vice versa. For the person at the other end to hear you from the studio would require running a output of your audio console in the studio into the audio card on the studio skype computer, through the line input, you will be amazed at the audio quality, if this is over your head let me know.
