Full Version: 1.4 Beta - Setting device for "Ringing"?

I have not been able to find a combination of settings that will send a ringing tone to my speakers when someone is calling me. (using 1.4 Beta now, but have the same issue on 1.4 Alpha. Version 1.3.x has no problem sending a ring tone to the speakers)

I have a Soundblaster Live5.1 that I want to use for the ringing, and a Logitech USB Headset for Sound In and Sound Out. Some experimenting and I discovered that (hw:Headset,0) works for the headset. No setting I've tried yet will send a ring tone to the speakers.

For the Soundblaster I can choose (in the dropdown menu in the Options dialog box) from:
SBLive 5.1 [SB0060] (hw:Live,0)
SBLive 5.1 [SB0060] (plughw:Live,0)
SBLive 5.1 [SB0060] (hw:Live,1)
SBLive 5.1 [SB0060] (plughw:Live,1)
SBLive 5.1 [SB0060] (hw:Live,2)
SBLive 5.1 [SB0060] (plughw:Live,2)
SBLive 5.1 [SB0060] (hw:Live,3)
SBLive 5.1 [SB0060] (plughw:Live,4)

None of the options seem to work. Skype never makes a sound when someone calls. The popup dialog box comes up fine, and I can answer and hold a conversation just fine (works WAY better than 1.3.x).

Is there any way to get this to work?

I also have the same problem.

I have Ubuntu 7.04 64 bit, with a Audigy, and i'm also using a logitech usb headset for calls. This is both present in the alpha and beta builds of Skype.

It's almost always the obvious :-P Have you tried setting the notifications? On my system, all notification events were, for some reason, not actually pointing to where the wav files actually were. Reset them to the real location, and all the sound events I wanted (ie the ringing) magically started working again.

My problem is that ringing is completely disabled, it is impossible to enable even, all is grayed out.
I use Kubuntu 7.04 32 bit, no ringing when someone calls me, no ringing when i call , no nothing, death all.
also it needs a week for to learn this skype 1.4 Beta for to find out how to use it and to find out from where to configure.
This is not good at all.
