Full Version: Can't hear myself!?

RLS Pro
Hi,
I've updated to the latest Skype 2.6 for my Intel based Mac Pro G5, and bought credit on my account - I can make calls but nobody can hear me! Echo 123 doesn't help, nor do any of the "help" pages on Skype.com. The wierd thing is that my Mic works fine (as I use it to record), even with iChat it works, and when I go to system preferances, I can physically see that the Mic input is going into my computer and I can hear myself! The problem lies between Skype and Mac miscommunicating - I've checked all the Skype preferances and they are set exactly how they should be.
I think this is a big build error for 2 reasons, first that I can talk over the internet with other programs and 2nd that when I check the Skype preferances I get the message:
Skype Error:
Valid port numbers are 1024...65535.

What do all you genius's think about this!?
I'm dying to know, since Skype never return my e-mails, and not 1 person I know knows what the hell is happening!
Thanks,
R.

Since all the Mac's and all Skype's preferences are properly set, you might try the following (remembering that I am not a genius):
1. Repair permissions.
2. Deselect "Pause iTunes during call" in the Advanced preference panel if it is selected.
3. Verify that Skype is online.

I have sometimes managed to clear problems simply by rebooting the computer. Most of my own difficulties have arisen as a result of corrupted permissions or Skype's somehow going offline. Other than those two (rare) issues, version 2.6.140 is very stable and reliable on my G4 Powerbook system.
