It seems that the only way to get skype on Symbian system is to use This ! yes.png

The experience is great ... why would you use any other skype software when this one does much more !

i installed FRING on my E61 and made calls from Skype, Gizmo and MSN. have not tried GTalk. but it all worked; of course it depends on your WiFi connection and Internet connection. The calls from Skype out were charged to my skype out at normal prices and my Gizmo was also charged as before. I don't know how FRING makes money but this product is way cool.. yes.png yes.png

Try free beta version of IM+ for Skype Software.
Active testers will get an unlimited license of the software. (they promise wink.png )

I have just tested both IM+ and FRING and the latter is the one that is staying on my mobile. Reasons given below.

IM+ is not true VoIP it just arranges a callback to your mobile or landline (to hand) - and making calls in IM+ is awkward. THIS MEANS YOU GET DEBITS OUT OF YOUR SKYPE-PRO SUBSCRIPTION EVEN IF MAKING CALLS TO YOUR INCLUSIVE NATIONAL NUMBERS!!! Your would also get charged for both legs of an international call. The home leg is even more expensive if you send it to your mobile - best to have a land line to select to hand. It is effectively the same as the Skype call forwarding service - you have to programme it each time you make a call. Oh yes... you have to pay for the software once the 7 day trial is over. FRING is free!!! In fact if you just want a closed community just set them up with the excellent SMS invite service: no need to join Skype at all. If you have it: Skypeout can be used on all of your existing address book - and it goes straight over the net - just charging you as per making a call at a PC. Better still - if you have WLAN it does not even come off your mobile provider MB limit (I have mine set up on an (E65) Access Provider Group with my home WLAN first and mobile Internet Provider second - this automates selection - dont forget to raid the WLAN potential at free hotspots and your friends houses too wink.png ). Fring is pretty good, although using Gizmo for non Skype calls is pretty handy.

I also like the fact that it overlays over your phones address book, so u can see all your numbers.. not just skype numbers.
