Hi magic development team!

I'd like to provide my personal contribution as "tester" after running your alpha for almost 2 weeks. First the description of my machine: mb asus A8V Deluxe, a64 3500+, 1GB ram, both gigabit and 802.11g, running debian-sid based SIDUX distro with 2.6.21.1 up kernel, kde 3.5.7, beryl window manager. Installed SOUNDCARDS: VIA8237 (hw:1) and Soundblaster Live (hw:0). Skype (audio+mic) works on hw:0 to which headphones are attached wink.png but rings audble on hw:1 loudspeakers wink.png

So what happens while running 1.4 alpha:

- sometimes, especially when running apt-get and downloading files beryl session crashes (this leads back to login and all the appz killed)
- sometimes when opening a new chat window text doesn't show until a first click is randomly made on the chat window space
- (this annoys me a lot) skype cannot manage itself switching the capture flag of the soundcard (in this case hw:0) and EVERYTIME I got to open manually a terminal, then run alsamixer -c 0, press F4, look for the capture parameter and activate manually.... operation which is not particularly quick when you have lotsa windows open and someone abrouptly calls you....
- I lack the icon to immediately change my status (it's not that quick browsing through a pull-down menu)
- I feel the need of a "send file" ready icon within the chat window
- once a user appears selected and enlarged in the contact list you can't reduce its size by clicking again
- I feel that the annoying bug present in 1.3 (program freezing the whole system for 4-5secs. while someone logs in) finally belongs to the past (thanks), anyway sometimes the program seems to slow down a lot

I hope to have been useful to you and would be totally glad to get your feedback!!!
Thanks a lot

CTRL-click on the user, it will reduce again.

CTRL-click on the user, it will reduce again.

Thanks for the tip! It would be anyway nice if there wouldn't be the need of any Ctrl-click, but a click would be enough for it.

Hi, I'm still here waiting for some answer to the feedback I posted, thanks.

Ugh, ok, let me sum it up.

Not related to Skype i think.

Known bug. I'm working on resolving this.

Known, hopefully I'll have this working for Beta.

There is a status icon on top of main window. Click on it to quickly choose your desired status.

It's a matter of adding a button, so I'll just add it I guess.

If it's not a big problem for you, please use our JIRA bugtracker next time to look up if an issue has been reported and report it if not. Would save us all a bit of time.

Hope this helps.

Hi Berkus,

first of all thanks for your nice answer facing all the issues. I'm sorry for not using the bugtracking system, actually I didn't even know about its existence surprised.png ....how does it work? where do I have to register/click? Plus, that's just for bugs, right? For sugestions is still this forum ok?

Thanks for those bugs you're working on, especially the one that makes me go crazy with mixers... I feel a bit stupid, because I didn't notice that status button before you told me!!! But, again, this might be a sign that that position might not be the best.... for the sake of a cleaner interface, if it would rather find itself on the bottom of contact list (like in other sykpe versions) maybe it would be much more intuitive for everybody and its pressure could not be jammed with the one on the name to change the status message.

One last thanks (spassiba?) for the send button within the chat window!
Have a nice day

It is referenced from http://developer.skype.com/LinuxSkype in the Issue Reporting section. There's a link to Issue Reporting guide as well.
Putting Feature suggestions into JIRA is fine, because on the forum they will be lost in the tonns of flood sooner or later.

The new skype is in a way antipode with previous versions, so it might take a bit of time to get used to it, but it is only a matter of habit. You'll get used to it, promise.
