Will you be releasing a AMD64 version of skype.?

I'd like to see a 64 compiled version also. Running 32 bit skype works nicely but some strange things are happening, When running 64 bit browser alongside 32 bit skype my browsers (moz, fire, galeon..) crash. Konq hasn't crashed but dosn't process events correctly. Crashes or other bizarre behaviour seems to be java/javascript realeated...but only when skype is running. I actually had to shut down skype just to buy some minutes.

Forget to mention that flash doesn't work with 64 bit browsers because 1) Flash sucks, and 2) Flash sucks big-time. Nobody likes that crap except for web-developers (check recent surveys). Anyway, I can't for the life of me imagine why anyone would write documentation with flash (except to assist the least common denominator - windows users). At any rate, get ride of flash.

Actually, even after skype is shutdown I'm still experiencing crashes on all my browsers that have javascript enabled. Konq doesn't crash because I have javascript turned off. This is really bizarre because this behavior should only occur when skype is running. I have to reboot my machine (and not run skype) to regain stability with my javascript enabled browsers.

I would really like to see a native AMD64 version. I'm not running with the 32-bit compatability libraries at all, so I can't talk to friends who are using skype right now! Is there even an estimate for how long porting to amd64 will take?

I'm using Skype for Linux since it's first release. Some time ago I've upgraded my box to AMD64 and now I'm using Debian pure 64. It would be great if Skype will release 64 bit version.
Thanks.

I have Mandrake 10.0 AMD64 Official, it would be great I could also have a binary isntall of Skype for x86_64 systems.

This is the future, and delaying it it's just a loose of market.

In one more year every PC being sold will be for shure 64bits.

The sooner Skype attend this, the sooner will solv eproblems that can appear and can be solved right before the big masses use it for 64 systems.

I'm running debian amd64, and a native version would be really useful. Having to run skype in a chroot is really irritating - it's the only thing I have to do that for.

I am running Mandriva 2007 on amd64 and have not been able to get Skype to work there. I'll work on it some more but having a amd64 version for Linux available would be great.

I also am interested in using Skype on AMD64 Kubuntu. People have been asking for 64-bit support for a couple of years. I don't know what the obstacles are to making this happen.

The problem is that this will be probably as delayed as the alsa support ,wich still doesn`t work properly ,don`t understand why isn`t the skype team pay attention to these things ,these can make skype unuseable to people like me.

I agree with this. Whilst a 64 bit version would be nice, lack of native ALSA has to come first. This is an audio application for gawds sake! Why use obsolete drivers? wondering.png

Now the funny thing is that I had to do a reinstall and now it doesnt work any more

If if start Skype fromt he command prompt I get,

"skype: error while loading shared libraries: libasound.so.2: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64"

Looks like a sound library is wrong.

Any Ideas?
