There appear to be MANY people experiencing this bug: Download and install skype, and it won't open. There seems to be a particular history with OS X.3.9, but it would seem to occur with OS X.4 as well. Also, I have had Skype working fine in the past (V 2.5.?), on the same computer with the same OS. Only on my last install, after a clean install of OS has this problem occurred.
I would have thought someone would have addressed this issue with the new Beta version. Well?
There's a thread in the OS X forum with concerns about, but no solutions to this problem: http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=86182
There's a thread in the 2.6 Beta forum: "Skype app fails to open" http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=83892
And I found a thread that started in Nov 2006 and ended pathetically with no answers in feb 2007.
Are the developers of 2.6 aware of this issue? I'm hoping this is the place to alert them, and perhaps get a response.
Here's the crash log error message when we try to open Skype: dyld: /Applications/Skype.app/Contents/MacOS/Skype can't open library: /System/Library/Frameworks/QuartzCore.framework/Versions/A/QuartzCore (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
I also notice that when I do a "Find" search of my harddrive for Skype, it doesn't find the application, only the disk image for the install, and the Skype.crash.log.
Since so many (would be) users are facing this issue, I hope that developers can respond with some ideas. Or even a fix.
