Here at work we use Skype as a communication mainstay. I also use a Skype In and Skype Out account on my home account. I want a way to be on both my home and work accounts at the same time. Currently there seems to be no way to log on to two accounts in Skype (this would be my IDEAL, preferably each with it's own contact list!)... so is there any way to run a second instance of Skype? Are there any plans to accommodate users in my situation?

Hi,

Imo that should be possible (a little bit dangerous but possible!) by enabling the --> "Fast user switching" <-- Mac feature.
See --> System Preferences / System / Accounts / Password --> Options
By toggling from an account to the other, you will be able to run the same Skype application with two different identities, each with his own settings.

That works, but not the way I want. If I have messages or a call on the user account account I am not logged in on, I have no way of knowing about it.

Why not to forward to the account you are logged in on then ?

Thats not a bad idea... Not we're working in the right direction. wink.png

But I don't think it will work. sadsmile.png

Currently people call my SkypeIn, and if I'm not on it forwards to my cell. Can it forward to my cell AND to my other Skype account?

This is STILL less than ideal, as I won't be able to see or respond to text chats or other forms of messaging on my home name, but helpful! THANKS!

Skype Wizzards, if you are listening, let me be online with 2 accounts at once! smile.png

The other problem, thinking about it, is that I still could not call out from my work account (part of what I want is convenience of calling out from Skype). And I can't have work forward to home Skype, because 90% of work Skype use is text only.

I use both the "fast user switching" and call forwarding. Incoming calls on my secondard (home) ID are forwarded to my primary (business) ID. I have separate SkypeIN numbers for both. When I go on the road, I forward my business ID to my cell phone. When I get home, I remove call forwarding on my home ID so that it rings me directly (while the business calls go to voicemail). As for outgoing calls, I use "user switching" to make calls from either ID.

I can't forward incoming IM's from one ID to another, but what I can do is put a mood message on one ID to tell people to contact me on the other ID.
