Hi !,
I have discovered Skype at it's version 0.9 and got many of my friends on the network with me, but since that, I have lost some of them, and I'd like to tell developpers about what I think that Skype is missing.
First, for files, videos, etc., there's much competition that's already in place, so I'd put the brakes on the developping of that branch. (You got no video and file transfer with skype are way too slow sorry, got 80k/s upload and only upload a 3-4k/s with skype, full-speed with anything else) ... I'd consider more useful things, like finding and debugging the problems (as this one: turning back from a fullscreen game to windows which interferes with skype and makes me lose the title screen, can't move the Window unless I resize it. and this one : The "calling" protocol reports "Reason unknown" (in french it is "Raison inconnue") when you call someone that is exactly at the same time calling you... Why not "This contact is already trying to call you" ? )
Second, I'd add some "quality" settings so skype could use more and less of network and processor, for two reasons: Some people want to play games with this and skype @ 15% processor does not help the game :), and also some users on 56k would like to use it but it lags much, so they would like to have something less laggy, even if it's not as clear as it is now.
Finally, I'd add some gamers' options like the option to talk all the time, or only when you press a button (this would btw solve the processor usage problems and bandwitch problems for much people), but hear me well I'm on high speed and have a good processor I don't want to lose the "all-the-time" streaming audio chat :)
Thanks alot for reading me,
Hope someone hears me :)

Hey :)
Just a reminder guys @ Skype ... I still like Skype because it's the only one to have the greatest quality with no one time or monthly fee ! The above message is only to help you out ;)
Have a nice day everyone and reply your opinion !

Hey there, as far as better gamers' options I voted no simply because there's already a pretty decent voice chat program that's made specifically for gamers... check it out:
http://rogerwilco.gamespy.com/
but I'm not necessarily completely against the idea because I tend to think the more options a program has the better. but personally I think the development time would best be spent elsewhere, at least until more of the highly requested features are implemented.
Have a good one

Hi back,
I have downloaded the latest free version of Roger Wilco, it has great functionnality, but the sound quality is so bad that I hardly understand my neighboor with which I audio-chat everyday at least 1 hour / day. Skype has a much better audio quality than MSN Messenger, and MSN has even better audio than Roger, as I tested. (And no, I won't pay for Roger, unless I missed the [X] Crappy Sound Quality box, and as final note, I had not checked the Pentium-II or less option

)

Look, there is already Ventrillo and Teamspeak which are WAY MORE APPROPRIATE for gamers. Thay offer selectable bandwidth, MUCH easier to set up a confrence, to leave and join a confrence, control membership, etc.
USE THOSE for gameing, rather than try to make Skype a gameing utility, and thereby add complexity and reduce the quality of the service.
You've already got a gameing server, Just add FREE Teamspeak to it and it can handle everything you need in the gameing world.

I agree, however, it would be nice if Skype would offer a low-bandwith setting (or maximum bandwith limit) for the situations where you need to run Skype together with other bandwidth consuming programs.

It is true that Team Speak offers something that's not bad at all for playing games, thanks for the info, but still, there's a whole life before us so if we could see such features coming to skype, this would be fun because skype still kicks all with the best quality ever seen.
