I have contact on my list that are still pending authorization.
I cannot see their status. I have sent multiple "request" for authorizations and vice versa.
No one receive them and I don't have anything from them. How in the world do you authorize
a contact so you can see them when they are on????

Are you sure that the other person has accepted you authorization request?

What version of Skype are you using?

I confirm this issue,
when I click the 'Add the selected user to contact list" button from the chat window, I don't get the usual "send request" window, but I the contact is automatically (it seems) added to my list.
However no matter how the other (PC) persons try to add me to their list, it doesn't work, I never receive any request.

I confirm this issue -
I've added myself to friends' accounts and added them to mine, I fill in the authorization window but niether of us are receiving the notices.
I've been suffering from this issue for a while now - I've tried updating the program and nothing worked.

any help would be great!

Me too. Half my contacts are authorised and half not. Seems to be the most recent ones who aren't. We keep sending each other requests but neither of us ever receive any to accept. I've been trying to add my friend in Canada for over a year. And now again with a friend in Australia.

Could it be that we have different versions of Skype that are not compatible? Or could it be that they aren't Mac users and I am? Please help as am not getting what I want from Skype at all like this.

Are you using the latest version of Mac OS X and have you completed all the available updates from Software Update?

Are you using the latest version of Skype?

It shouldn't matter which version each one has. I never had any problem with any of my contacts, regardless of version and platform.

Keep in mind that for authorization to work, most of the times you need to be online at the same time.

Try deleting the file User/Library/Preferences/com.skype.skype.plist

Try deleting the folder User/Library/Application Support/Skype

Repair disk permissions.

I am having problems with this as well. People are not receiving my authorization requests nor are they receiving mine, even if we are online at the same time.

I have the latest OS X and Skype versions.

What do you mean by "repair disk permissions?"

Very appreciative of your assistance!

Open Disk Utility, select your disk on the left pane and "First Aid" tab on the right pane. Click "Repair Disk Permissions" on the bottom.
