same problem on a HTC p3600, it seems that it shouldent be such a problem, was wondering if there is a patch for it or something, it's not really usable like this, especially in public

It is a Windows Mobile problem, not a Skype problem per se. Windows Mobile lacks a proper Audio API allowing Skype to route the audio to the correct speaker.

Skype for Windows Mobile 2.2 beta already has support for this audio routing, but the PDA manufacturers must support it as well. So complain to the PDA manufacturers instead - they are the ones that can fix the problem.

Search forum for detailed info.

I checked from Glofish X500, it definitely route sound to phone speaker very loud and clear. But for other phone, i didnt see it.

Just hit the "speakerphone" issue on an SPV E650 with SkypeforSmartphone 2.2.0.36 (only released yesterday). Don't see any options for "audio routing" in this version?

Sounds like this is going to be a difficult problem to solve (hell people have been complaining about it for over 6 months), and it may well be outside of Skype's control.

Is there any further information/update, as without it it really makes the solution unusable unless you are in a "private" place, in which case you'll likely have a laptop and desktop Skype anyway.

Good news today.

I found this forum looking for a resolution to the same problem with my new HTC s621, skype uses speakerphone only.

Someone mentioned using the wired earpeace and microphone that came with my phone. Tried it and it solved the problem of everyone around me hearing my skype conversations.

same here (for S621)...I tried some FAQ answer...but the wired earpeace and microfone was the only solution at this time....www.htc.com released a new audio driver for S621...maybe its related.

Does anyone know if this version works on the Cingular (at&t) 8525?

I am currently using the old beta version 2.2.0.20 and it works fine, except for the classic sound coming out of the speakerphone issue. I would like to upgrade to the latest version, but I am concerned because for a long time after the beta version changed into the official version the 8525 was not listed as one of the devices that was supported by the official version and I think I remember some people having problems using the offical version on the 8525.

Any guidance on this will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dallen,
There were only minor changes but yes .37 works on 8525. (only .36 didn't)
But as always I suggest that you save the Skype.exe from the pocket pc somewhere, try .37 and if it doesn't work for you than just copy the saved .20 Skype.exe back.

Sound coming out of speakerphone is not fixed, and it is not something for Skype to fix. It is an OS issue.
