Seems the Japanese input bug may be fixed. No more copy and paste from another window I hope. I'll know more in the morning.

Yeah, native Japanese Input via SCIM is now possible again in Skype 1.4 Alpha, at least with Feisty Fawn. Anyway, you can probably use Japanese Input even with the Static version of Skype 1.3. But I'm happy, that I can use SCIM with the dynamically linked version now, because the Skype window won't look somewhat ugly this way.
