Had this problem since updating to OS 10.4.9, Skype works great for a while, then between 2 and 25 minutes later the video from my end freezes. Notes on using Skype today:
"Initially contact not shown as live, yet received call, later shown as live.

picture froze after few minutes, my Mac stopped sending video.

Hang up very slow to respond, spinning beach ball for 2 mins before force quit showed Skype not responding so not able to get call info. Force Quit failed to force a quit 1st time. Quit on second attempt, webcam still connected, still shown active by dock icons. Not launch from dock. Applications launch led to error :an unexpected error occurred (error code -600). Only cleared by restarting Mac, webcam warning light not go off until grey Apple screen of restart.

Picture froze after 21 minutes
Two force quits to quit Skype, webcam not quit until grey Apple screen on restart.

Video freeze after 11 minutes then. Video pause & restart led to blank thumbnail, 3rd video restart restarted video.

Froze again after 10 minutes. Pause & restart led to Skype not initially responding on Force quit menu.

Froze again after 25 mins, pause and restart video led to freeze both ways, with spinning beachball when Skype selected.
After restart, next call, then froze after 3 minutes, both directions froze after trying pause/restart video from pause button.

Audio fine throughout"

Mac should cope easily:
G5 PPC iMac 1.8 GHz, 10.4.9, 250GB HD (145GB free) 1GB RAM, 1MB ADSL broadband. Logitec Quickcam 4000 iChatUSB 2.2. Not know details of Cybercafe PC other end, other than XP, problem solved by restarting Mac this end.

Look forward to any suggestions. Exactly same problem as 2.5.0.85 & 63, reverted from -85 because problems. Will try & post on bug forum.

Thanks for email Raul, have now set up the Log process, but don't make alot of Skype calls, so will get back to you as soon as have done so, could be a couple of weeks....

Must be someone else out there who has the same problem that could do a log of the problem?

I have not heard anyone else having this problem, but if this is actually problem in Skype software then someone should have this problem also.

I second to the original poster that video freezes after playing few sec or minutes. There is a beach ball before the video freeze and if you click the Stop video icon and then Start Video, it resumes but freezes again.

I have switched back to stable version as it works nicely.

I have had freezes on earlier versions as well, thought might be a result of Mac update from 10.4.8 to 10.4.9? Await further comment on Jira with interest.

I've had the freezing problem since the previous version. After loading the current version for Mac, i still have the freezing problem, but worse yet, both the audio and vided has degraded. Hope, a fix is coming soon! no.png

Look forward to the fix!
Yesterday's video call:
5-10 minutes video,
quite a few mouse clicks / keyboard (2 or 3 Force Quits, keyboard Application quits, because not quit from Skype Application menu) to escape from Skype,
restart Mac,
login to Skype,
restart call (1 minute to launch incoming video),
even on the latest version 2.6.0.140, real pain! Nearly 50% of time available for video chat taken up by trying to re-establish the video call.

the thumbnail of the video I was sending was quite erratic, mostly not there, not change any settings to open or close the outgoing thumbnail.

Video (when there) and audio (though the ringing sound now horribly metallic) did seem a bit better on 2.6.0.140.

No news on Jira yet.sadsmile.png

I have the same Problem as PeterCH on my iMac G5 with build in iSight. After a few minutes it's freezing. No way to force quit skype. I have to restart. So I switch to my Macbook were skype works fine for hours. Both machines work with 10.4.9. IMac has a PowerPC, Macbook an Intel. Hope you will find a fix for this.

Hope that this problem is solved soon, video chats sometimes lasted as little as 3 minutes before freezing, needing a restart to start video again. After freezing, opening preferences leads to spinning beachball and can't close preferences, so freezing the incoming video as well..... Help
