I think that you should set up a server for users that would like to use a sip application. There are lots of devices that can run a sip application while there's no skype support for them. Also there are sip applications that look much better than skype.

Hi,

Now why would Skype want to do that? Skype is obviously so much bigger than any SIP application. SIP providers may want to contact Skype and see if they could become Skype compatable. And to be honest I don't much care about looks, quality is more important, at least to me.

But that's my opinion.

It's true, Skype is much bigger than any sip provider, but there a lot of sip applications for diferent operative systems. Sip applications work generally with any sip provider, and they require much less processing power than skype.

Be carefull with this - Vonage for instance has above 200k paying users and having a couple of millions working capital per month can make you somehow flexible...

Hey smint!

And Skype has over 200,000 paying customers too. Maybe 300K.

You know the figures as Skype Superuser? Sure having contracted subscribers is a difference to call-by-call billing. I´m pro skype, but don´t belive that the battle is over yet.
