Hi there !

When Videochat on Linux will be at least available ? Is there any probable date of release with this feature announced ? I'd be really keen on videochating on my Ubuntu smile.png

I wouldn't hold my breath too long. They are doing a change to QT4 and some bug fixes but so far no word on video. We can only hope it will come soon. Until then I guess there's openwengo which does SMS, video calls, cheaper phone rates but doesn't work as reliably as Skype does for me http://www.openwengo.com/

Yes, but Wengo isn't compatible with Skype... so what for I'd install it if all my friends had Skype ? Thanks for trying to help, but OpenWengo isn't a solution for me.

well, you better start looking for an alternative and ask your friends to switch too.

yes, this needs same discussion - and yes, this will take same time,
but :
Do you really want to be in the exact same position next year as you are now?

I seriously started moving away from Skype about a year ago, most of my friends followed. (And I talked about moving some more months, before actualy moing.)
I don't spend any money on Skype, but on regular SIPs.

Don't get me wrong, I would like to use Skype, but I don't like being treated as an idiot or thrid-rate customer and I don't like being lied at. devil.png Once in a wile (as today) I look whether any thing changed on the linux-side of Skype and hope against all past experience that Skype is actually releasing a uptodate version. blush.png

Just my five cents smile.png
