I'm able to send message and see the contacts status.

Try to start with "artsdsp -m skype" from commandline - will that make it any better?

Yes, with this command, it works better ...
Now I can accept/make a call and I hear the other participant.
However, there is an echo and my contacts cannot hear me.
I saw this line in the console after running the command :
Sound device is not defined
It's probably in relation with my issue ?

how odd, your problems are not the same as mine... but you do get the same msg. do you see the message 'sound device not defined' twice? i see it twice. (once for in, once for out?)
(trying to fix this with no knowldge as i fear my own post is destined to become one of those unanswered posts that falls between 'too easy for the people who really know' and 'too hard for those who don't' )....

Does not seem to be online since this afternoon... Neither Skype for Linux nor Skype for Windows can contact echo123!

She will never be "online" in the sense that she will not give you authorization and will always be in the "?" status. But she still answers calls.

With "online" we meant available. On Saturday echo123 did not respond to either IM or Call during the whole afternoon (GMT+2 time)...
Calls failed with mention "User is not online" and IM with "wil be sent when user is online"

There was a temporary break in echo123 service during Saturday because the echo123 server was relocated.
Sorry about any inconvenience that this may have caused.
