Full Version: Moneybookers debiting my European in USD - Foreign Exchange charge applied

Hi,

I tried searching for a topic covering this matter but can't seem to find any. Has anyone experienced purchasing Skype credit through Moneybookers for Euros, only to have the amount debited in USD?

In my case I have a German Mastercard which charges a fee for this foreign exchange - which to me seems a little strange. It looks like Moneybookers is converting the credit I want to purchase into dollars, and debiting this amount from my card.

I've taken up this matter with Moneybookers, and they inform me that this is a policy of their payment provider and only affects Mastercard payments. They won't give me details of their payment provider, nor will they explain why they can debit my card in Euro when I signed up for the Credit Card verification process.

This only started happening in the last two months or so and previously the amounts were always debited in Euro. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Or rather, I'd be more interested to know whether there are Mastercard users out there that have NO problems with Moneybookers...

Many thanks,
Garry

No - I haven't seen this issue before, Garry.
It seems clearly to be a Moneybookers issue.
Presumably, your Moneybookers account is not linked to your Skype account.
If it is, what currency are your Skype preferences set to ?
