Full Version: Paypal all of a sudden being rejected

Hi there,

I was going to top up my skypeout today and all of a sudden my Paypal payments are being rejected. I had been using this very same PP account for well over a year without any problems and payments made straight through PP work just fine. CC payments are not an option in my country.

I tried deleting my CC from PP and adding it again, but to no avail.

Then I went to check my various skype account settings, especially the PP preferences and that came up with the following message:

"Your Skype account is not linked to a PayPal account.
A Skype account will become linked to a PayPal account if it has successfully received money from a Skype contact."

Does it need to be linked to a PP account for skypeout purchases or is that only required for skype's Send Money function?

I don't understand the 2nd sentence: are they saying in order to link my skype account to my PP account I need to send money through skype to my PP? That doesn't make any sense to me since a) it won't accept my PP in the first place and b) Send Money isn't even available on the Mac version I'm using.

This is very frustrating and any help would be very much appreciated!

Cheers Martin

Update: turns out CC is now an option. However when I tried the payment was also rejected, sigh.
Now what?

I have no idea how to pay for Skype. They have turned down Paypal, Visa and Mastercard and I am in the USA. Last I checked they own Paypal. This is rediculous!

Hi Martin,
The only way to get this sorted out is to file a ticket as soon as possible explaining the situation.
There is a link on my signature line below.
Meanwhile, if you are offered an alternative payment method other than PayPal or CC it might be best to try that.
Also have you tried both your Account Page AND your client window to make a payment ?
Sometimes, if one doesn't work the other does.
Another thought - if you are using either IE6 or IE7 try an alternative ISP.
IE can sometimes cause problems.
If none of these work - file a ticket to CS.

Well I have tried to pay from both a Mac and Windows with various browsers if that is what you mean. I have not tried a transfer from a bank account as it has been mentioned that this method can take days.

Yes - depending on the location and/or the routing system of the Bank used the Bank Transfer payment method can take up to 10 days to complete.

I did that.

However today things were back to normal and Paypal went through without a hitch, go figure.

What a relief!

Thanks for all the suggestions.
