read skype billing scams, It costs more than normal phone cards or long distance service.

PRICE JAKCING, WRONG BILLS, RANDOM AND WRONG USAGE IS REGULAR FEUTURE.
NO DOUBT QUALITY OF VOICE IS GOOD.

BEWARE OF SKYPE BILLING WHILE PAYING, CHECK YOUR MINUTES USAGE, RATES AND MATHEMATICAL FUNCTION, YOU WILL FIND IT DISASTER AND SCANDAL.

AFTER I REPORTED THIS MATTER ON CONSUMER FORUM, THEY LOCKED MY BALANCE.

THEIR PC TO PC FUNCTION IS FINE, REST IS SCANDAL. CHECK YOUR BILLS WHEN YOU PAY THEM FOR NEXT CYCLE. THEY TAKE AWAY YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

DEATAILS OF HOW SKYPE CHEAT CUSTOMERS

SKYPE IS TOTAL SCAM BEWARE: PRICE HIJACKING, ILLEGALLY CHARGING AMOUNTS, WRONG BILLING..... BEWARE OF SKYPE SCAM.

I have been using skype often for making pc to landline calls.

I was very happy with quality of service . I used to charge 10 $ every time. Never cared to check account thinking every thing would be okay. But off late when I saw even for 5 minutes local north american call over 0.25 $ or more is deducted,or 2 minutes were charged as 0.11$ without any mathematical basis.

I got suspicious and started traceing last one month account, i found total random charges with wrong amount, hijacked price with no mathematical basis. ( time multipled by rate/minute) .

In many instaces per minute charges were 0.10 $ or even higher to the fancy of skype management-(FYI published price is 0.021$ per minute)

I immediately tried to contact them , but there was no phone or emails. Only solution was to send them mail by online form.
Fortunate enough to get reply after 4 days which was not an answer to my complaint, rather they just send me a link to check FAQ.(Misleading practice)

I was irritated with their response. Again I sent them email specifying issue of price jacking and over charging. Till today in last 2 weeks there is no second response from them.

Now I feel(confirm) Skype cheat customers with random charges,with jacked prices/minute.They Never respond to complaint or resolve anything. Price we eventually pay is much higher than local reliable services or phone cards.

first, both links you posted are to your own posts, exact same thing, so they serve no purpose whatsoever, i dont see why you posted the link... unless you are trying to decieve, because at first glance it looks like maybe you have links to supporting documents found in other sites... but then on clicking the links it is obvious we're just looking at ur posts again.

second, posting with caps online is considered the equivalent of shouting. if ur gonna shout at skype staff, fair enough, they get paid at the end of the day... ok not so fair anyway, no one should have to put up with childish shouting, employee or not. however, most people reading this are not skype staff, and i for one dont appreciate being shouted at. SO QUIT SHOUTING

firstly, i'd advise you to check again. also post a screenshot of your calls history and we all might be able to help you identify if there was any error, it may be u are being charged for services you were unaware of, such as call forwarding.



skype documents all charges on your account page. it is your responsibility to check that. also skype offers refunds where it has made an error. as opposed to accusing them of price jacking just tell them tey have made an error and you want a reply. if you accuse them of something like price jacking, they will only reply defensively, you are giving them room to waste time. instead, tell them they have made an error, list all the errors with times and dates, and demand a refund... dont give them opportunities to write back with excuses... this way they only have two options, one is to refund you the other is to say we did not make a mistake... which actually they cant say if you have everything included your call history well documented.



what does that mean? jacked up prices? skype cearly says you should check the rates page and your account page regularly, i believe the trems and conditions say they are free to increase prices but you are entitled to demand a refund of remaining credits you do not agree to the their increases. also are you aware of the connection fee which was advertised like a month in advance?



actually, it's cost = (time rounded up to the next whole minute * rate per minute) + connection fee



cant disagree with you there... they do mess around quite a bit with that

After posting my complaint on various consumer forums today after many days I got same link again.

This call was only 4:58 minutes as per call history but I was charged for 11:57 minutes.
I made couple of test calls to see their arbitrary billing.

Skype is really scam and they cheat you by all means.

My intention was to bring this scam to the people who may get cheated. Rest I know how to handle skype. I am capable and enough equipped to take them to court if so required. So don't advocate me atleast.

fair enough, however, just as news is limited on tv to specific time slots, or to specific channels, your posts too need to be. it would be very silly regardless of importance to broadcast the news on a childrens cartoon channel, for one thing it is unfair to the kids... likewise, limit your posts to relevant threads, if you must post in someone elses, do so only if their problem is resolved, doing so otherwise is against forum rules, regardless of how important your news is, even if world war 3 started i would say the same thing to the poster. and also there is no need to double post. saying it once was enough

with unfounded and unresearched accusations i'd say you'd waste money and resources and any court would be throwing the case out and ask you to pay the courts fees. your accusations here on the fourms were based on nothing but lack of knowledge on your part, i have no doubt when you e-mailed skype you e-mailed with just as much lack of knowledge. did you know about the connection fee? i think not... but it is noted on the calls history page in your skype.com account.

i come from bangladesh, and yes the name is spelt in many ways, however, again if you do your research you'd find the name was originally a title from the time when bangladesh was a part of india, and as such my family descends from such title holders, not even very long back, bangladesh has only been independent for about 30 years or so, and as opposed to many of the other chowdhury's, who weren't chowdhurys through title, my family's name has a lil history behind it. however, the point was, my name is written by my posts and spelt properly, so there was no excuse for you to spell it incorrectly, repeatedly

there never were hard feelings from my part and there never will be. i do not insult people or the complaints because of my input on the forums... instead, please read again and you will find it to the be case, that i take false claims and help those that make them see where they are going wrong... but some people never accept they were wrong.

What ever it is I am not too serious about my money involved, but I am serious about their poor ethics and working style where 100000 of people like me are involved.

NO ADDRESS, NO LOCATION, NO PHONE, NO FAX-- JUST AN ONLINE SCAM....where tonnes of dollars, euros are collected. Even if a single person loose meagre 1$ a day when it comes to 1 million people it is huge amount. Such scams are worth to be noted.

What difference it makes when a nigerian does lottery or bank deposit scam, and a corporate company does in fine prints with disclaimers and hidden charges plus unethical practices?

It is like a sales man selling addictive drugs or poison and asking you to sign disclaimers for any consequences.

would i knock their customer services every opportunity i get if i were working for them? would i say they were misleading customers on several occassions? these are all evident in my posting history if you care to look... research is a great tool, use it wisely, it can tell you a lot about a person.

besides, it should not matter whether or not a person works for skype where a discussion is involved (i.e. u have said it's the voice you need, not the money) for the most important thing is what is said and discussed, so actually employment by skype is irrelevant for the nature of this discussion

by the way, the "nigerian scam" is not called the nigerian 419 scam because it is run by nigerians, but so called because of some relevant law in nigeria... infact i dont even think most people doing it today are nigerian.

but anyway, the difference is the companies are doing their dodgy acts legaly. just as governments can murder people legaly, but civilians cant (well in some places they can).



that too is done legaly all over the world. recently a scientist extracted the element in chillis that make them hot, and sold them in the pure form.... even a tiny speck on the tounge makes it swell... too much can cause death.. and so to buy it you had to sign a disclaimer... true story.
