Hello all,

I installed Skype on my 8525 and even though I didn't have access to a WiFi hotspot, and I could only get GPRS from my home (not even EDGE), I was immediately blown away by the great call quality. Everything just worked. That combined with my SkypeIn numbers in Rio de Janeiro (whose sound quality also blew me away) I was all but ready to cancel my Vonage service, which doesn't offer virtual numbers in Brazil. My only problem was that when I woke up after dreaming the whole night of Telecomm goodness, the 8525's battery was down to 20% after only about 8 hours. Is there some setting for this? Could it be because I wasn't using a WiFi connection? Any insight would be appreciated.

GPRS and WIFI functions on 8525 use considerably more power. It is a battery and OS issue not a software issue

Just curious...
Did you have your phone plugged in??

I recently stumbled upon a battery issue with the 8525 and just posted a topic on it. Take a read and maybe it will help to conserve your battery. The 8525 has a light on the right side... when the light is on, it is charging. When you plug your phone in, make sure that light is on. If it is not, restart the system, turn skype on and plug it in to the power supply. For some reason, when you dislodge the battery and plug it back in while skype is running, it gets fussy......
