As the topic of the thread 57736 is uninformative and the thread itself is becoming rather.. extensive, I thought it would be beneficial to create a fresh new thread for Developers / QA

I am experiencing difficulties calling any contact on my list without executing the skype binary as root.. as mentioned in a previous thread Skype 1.2.* worked ok _without_ root privileges.

I have ensured that Skype is not using ports 80 and 443, and the connection port is well above the reserved port range maximum, please see image provided below.



System information
Distro: Gentoo Linux
Kernel: linux-2.6.19-gentoo-r5
ALSA: 1.0.14_rc1 (kernel module)
