Full Version: How To Use/Access Skype Voicemail on a Mac!

Hello ~

I've sent an eMail to Skype 'help' and even put a message in this forum, but to no avail thus far. I realise that the people at Skype are busy, but I still need help.

I use a Mac, not windows ... and I can't find any way to access or use the Skype voicemail on my Mac. As opposed to the windows version of Skype, there is NO tool bar in the little floating Skype window and even in the tool bar at the top of the monitor screen, there's absolutely nothing about 'voicemail'! Why is that? How do Mac users access and use the voicemail or worse, is it not even available to Mac users?

I'm a bit frustrated, because it seems so hard to find instructions or help for Mac users and we're just 'left in the cold' as regards the whole operational system of Skype. ALL of the instructions are completely centred on windows users when there should be instructions for both! For example, we should see, Windows users click here; Mac users click here, and be granted clear instructions for all operating systems.

I am so completely at a loss at this point and quite frustrated. wondering.png

I hope someone can advise us Mac users on this matter.

Thank you so much!

At the right of the status bar (see below) there's a clock. This represents history, and clicking shows voicemail, sent calls, received calls, etc. It will turn into a red badge with a number if you have mail.

Go to "Calls" in Skype preferences to set up voicemail.

I just bought Skype's voicemail service to use on my Mac while in Argentina. However, when I go to PREFENCES and look for the CALL button, it is disabled and unresponsive to clicks. Does anyone know what is wrong here? Is it that this feature is not enable for people outside the US or in other countries?

I have attached a picture of the problem.[attachmentid=9398]

Any suggestions about how I can deal with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Speaking of how different Skype is on a Mac, I thought I'd throw in my own question as well:

I absolutely love Skype, and I literally depend on it in my line of work. However, I can't figure out a way to three-way someone in from a regular phone.I looked at the guide on conference calls, and on step 4 they say this is how you do it:

http://www.skype.com/intl/en/help/guides/m...dows/step2.html

But, in the Mac version, there isn't an option where I can enter a phone number, only skype contacts. And I because I work with coaching, teaching people how to work from home, I need that option to be able to call two people on regular phones at the same time..

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks for reading.

You can have a conference call in OS X with many landlines and mobiles. But you need to have them created as SkypeOut contacts from BEFORE.

You can't add a landline or mobile on-the-fly during a conference call like in Windows.

Nor you can add an incoming call to an ongoing conference call.

I have personally requested these from Skype a LONG time ago and hopefully they will be implemented sometime in the future.

I cannot seem to see that window with the clock that Sidnicious talks about for being able to access voicemail from my MacBook Pro.

It's the window that has your contact list smile.png

The clock is located right next to your Skype credit account balance.

If you still can't see it, try pressing Command+1 or go to Window->Skype from the top menu bar.

More to the point, it's a ridiculous way to access your voicemail, my history is full of calls made and chat histories. Trying to find a tiny, tiny icon that's a tiny bit different from the other icons is obviously a bad interface.

I expect, like the original poster and most everyone that wants computers to be easy to use, they'll be a button labeled "Voicemail" and I'd be able to see the voicemail history.
