I have paied for my skype account €10,00 by PayPal several days ago. And I received the receipt yesterday. However, except for the €10,00, there was an extra $ 1 payment on my bill.
I am wondering what is the extra $ 1 payment for? Is it the register fee for PayPal? It is my first to pay for skype by PayPal. I did registered a new PayPal. But, I thought the PayPal is free!
Can anyone help me? Thanks!

I am never charged extra by PayPal and there's no information saying I should. But on some Skype services I pay Euro VAT which is 15%. Does your receipt not specify what the charge is for?
Also, I think those who are more knowledgeable about the paying systeme will be helped if you state what country you're buying from.

If you visit your Account Page and look at your 'Transactions' you will see an explanation for each chargeable item.
You say that there was an extra $ on a bill in Euros !
I'm not sure I follow that one.

I had a very similar problem, perhaps they're getting crafty and tried to pull it off another way.
I recently bought $10 worth of Skype credit. I had $0.95 in my account. Now class, can anyone tell me was $0.95 + $10 is? Yes, Skype, would you like to answer the question? No, I'm sorry, $9.95 is incorrect!
I used the "report a problem" but have not heard anything yet, though from the other forums it looks like I'll have to wait at least a couple months before getting pissed off and posting to the forum about how Skype hasn't responded in 2 months. Why am I wasting my time to recover $1? Principal damnit! I'm not going to let Skype slide away without a fight for randomly charging 11% extra whenever they feel like it.
Details: Using Skype 2.5.0.151 from the US, on Windows XP. Order number 76407385, payed via PayPal. Invoice # A1080930. Paypal payment was completed March 21, 2007, at 21:58:55 PDT. This was my second PayPal payment to Skype, though I'll admit I didn't notice anything about the last payment, either because I wasn't paying attention or I got the full $10 that time.
And if any Skype official sees this and noticed my account balance is greater than $9.95 it's because I clicked on the "get 10 free minutes" link on the Skype website.
Opening a PayPal dispute until I get that dollar or figure out why I'm an idiot and realize I'm wrong.

Could it be some currency conversion fee at play here, if you're account is registered with one currency and the purchase (for whatever reason) is cleared via another currency?

When you visit your Account Page your 'Transaction' schedule should detail each chargeable event.
If this doesn't answer the question please advise the date of your ticket and your username so that we may advise Skype that the issue is not yet resolved.
Thank you.

The only thing close to "Transaction schedule" I saw under "My Account" was "View your purchase history." Which I already did--and I quote from my previous post:
> "Order number 76407385, payed via PayPal. Invoice # A1080930."
Order was on March 22, 2007, for $10. Order status: deliverred. My Skype name is ozydingo.

Was your ticket date also 03/28 ?
If so, currently replies are taking a minimum of 4 business days.
If no reply after tomorrow (03/28) please advise.

If by Ticket Date you mean Invoice Date then it was March 27, 2007 (I don't know why, but that's what the pdf invoice says.) If you mean something different, please tell me where to find it.

ticket date is when you first submitted your support request to skype -- if you received the auto message that is confirming your request was received, you'll find the date in this mail

On the bill from my credit card account by email, the only specific explanation is " Common Expense".
On the " Transactions " in my Skype account, I have seen nothing about the extra $1.
So I though it's something about the Paypal rather than Skype.
I used a Chinese credit card in Japan to pay for my Skype credit points.

FYI - I submitted another ticket, using the link in your signature this time instead of using the "report a problem" link on the skype application; that was yesterday and I haven't yet received any auto message with ticket date.

It had been clear that my extra $1 bill is only a test item from my credit card account. I had called to the service center of the bank and confirmed it. It had nothing to do with both Skype and Paypal. I am really so sorry for my mistakes.
Thanks, everybody!

Apparently!! But yeah, I'm only a single customer, I understand that it would be too much of a hassle to create a business model with the ability to really take care of all of its customers' issues. Sometimes there are just more important things to consider, and I understand that.
Though I am curious, and this paragraph is sincere, about the role the forum moderators play in the business model. My assumption has been it's an unofficial support role? The same few of you seem to answer most of the posts. Full time job? Part time job? Volunteer? What's in it for you guys? What's your official relationship to Skype?

Volunteers only (Unless their badge says Skype Staff), and some are Beta testers too. But Ike and Norman don't get a penny from Skype (that I know of).
