I've downloaded skype 1.3.0.53 and installed it in my Slackware 11 and it works fine until I try to make a call or use something that uses sound.
The sound just doesn't work.
I'm using esound with alsa and everything works fine... xmms, mplayer, gaim and all others aplications that do play sounds... except by skype...
I've searched with google, in this forum and in anywere but found nothing...
I'm starting skype with this command line:

CODE
esddsp skype

Someone can help me?

Hi -- don't start skype with esddsp.

Also, be sure that your user on your Slackware system is part of the audio group.

Maybe this might help... wink.png

Even if I don't start skype with esddsp, the sound doesn't work... and yes, my user is in the audio group...
And when I try to use "Skype Test Call" my skype gets a "Connecting..." forever...
I've also tried to play a sound in the tools/options menu in the sounds options and I hear no sound but thats no error message... Is it some kind of bug?

Are you using the statically-linked or the one dynamically-linked to Slackware's qt libraries? And how are you invoking Skype? from the command-line or a desktop launcher?

And what sound devices do you have? What kernel? (The latter because if you have a recent version of ALSA, you probably don't need to run esd at all.)

I've tested with booth statically-linked and the generic too.
I'm using kde and invoking skype from a command-line, a konsole.
I'm using a onboard nvidia sound device from a a7n8x-vm400 asus motherboard. I don't know the alsa version, it's the slackware 11 standard alsa.
And the kernel is a 2.4.33.3 slackware 11 default.

My best suggestion would be to try a 2.6 kernel, and all that comes with it.
