I am running Kubuntu 6.10 with all current upgrades, Kernel 2.6.17-10-386 , Alsa 1.0.11-5ubuntu1(Edgy)
3 sound cards on system 0-SiS 70012,1-SBLive! Value[CT4830],3-SBLive! Value[CT4830]
set to use card 1 for mic/headset
Skype version 1.3.0.53_API
Sound works ok when in conversation but no other sounds work. tried with and without sound effects no different
Will sit there for varying times from 1 min upwards , max time has been 50 minutes but will eventually crash whether in conversion or not
report to skype support via email and eventually got following response
