I recently started using this Forum and I'm getting a daily new topics digest sent to my email address. How do I stop receiving this?
Excuse me for responding here but I found no discussion of this topic, and the Forum tells me I "don't have permission" to start a topic.

yeah it is pretty stupid skype doesn't have unsubscribe links in the emails like every other forum vendor does. that is what happens when you try to build something yourself.

Yeah most of skype is vague. Ebay is directly responsible for its failure. They didnt want to invest money in customer service to encourage more people to spend money here. It takes money to make money.

I want to delete my skype id with all its chat history. I'm afraid that I'll have problems with my bf otherwise. I deleted all history but he has a programme that can find all deleted files. I'm really worried and need your help.

After changing my password a couple of times, I am still having this troublesome problem, with my "Full Name" changing every so often -- most recently I was renamed "Smile!" This is annoying because it means that people can't Skype me as a known, recognized contact. My best guess is that someone with a lot of know-how and/or inside connections with Skype is logging into my account to make free phonecalls within the US, and then erasing their calls from my call history. Apparently they are always able to access my account regardless of whether I've just changed my password. So far I haven't seen money disappear from my account (for international calls), though I'm starting to monitor this now too. Any chance that Skype will resolve this problem?

Hello.
I have one contact in my list ( it´s not a phone number, it´s from another pc) and when this contact is offline I try call him, and sometimes the following message appears: "the contact is offline". Other times i do the same and the following message appears: "Skype can't find this contact".
The question is: how much time is neccessary stay offline for skype could´t find a contact? One Week? One month? More?
Thank You!

How do I disable automatic launch of Skype on startup of my computer? I'm currently using Skype for Mac (version 2.7.0.257) running on MacBook Leopard OS. Big shame and a lost opportunity. I am one of the band of business users who were dependent on Skype and actually spent real money and are trying to extricate themselves from them.
And guess what my Skype in numbers are no longer connecting to most carriers, better call customer support, oh thats right you cant and they dont respond to requests.....sighhh

Please tell me why when I go to General Discussion (I'm signed in) and I click on New Topic it won't let me do a new topic. It says something like I'm not allowed to post a new topic. This is REALLY frustrating. Please help. btw, this is what I wanted to post:
Please help with audio for USB Telbox, 2 minutes ago
I just bought this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Skype-VoIP-to-PSTN...1QQcmdZViewItemrunning skypemate 3.0.2.47
Device version 057d
USB Telbox "USB Skype VoIP to PSTN RJ11 Cordless Phone Adapter MSN"
I cannot get audio through my phone. The box clicks on and off and SOMETIMES it will click and disconnect when I hang the phone up (which is good) but sometimes I have to click the red end button on skype on the computer. I have tried changing the audio in Skype, SkypeMate, AND in my control panel. I have tried "USB Audio Device, RealTekAc97 Audio (which is what it has always been on), and windows default. (Windows XP Home btw) The only other 2 options left is in the control panel -"BlueTooth Audio" and "BlueTooth high quality audio" and I haven't tried this because I'm pretty sure it would be a waste of time. I'm out of ideas. I've clicked on everything there is to click on in Skype AND in SkypeMate AND in the control panel "audio" and at this point I feel like throwing my laptop through a window...literally. Please help.
Also, for some reason that seriously behooves me - the audio and everything works fine on my desktop (Vista) but it is on the other end of my house and that is not where I need the phone. Something else weird - in the manuel it says system requirements - windows 2000 or windows xp and it doesnt work in my xp but it works in Vista. *sigh*
One more thing, isn't it supposed to make it to where I can dial the phone number on the phone and not have to do it on the laptop? It won't let me do that on the laptop OR the desktop.
HELP !!!! Thanks.

#13 - If you do not actively spend your Skype credits, it disappears in 6 months. Reminder emails are not actually sent (or at least received) but the one telling you all your money is gone is received fine.

You can view your order history to see when your first order was and when the 3 month restriction will be lifted:

Thanks , gladiator, but the thing is I am new to Skype, and want to start with, say, 5 $ for the moment, not 14 bucks... I dont know if I'll be satisfied, if the places I'll call will be OK regarding sound quality, if it always works well, etc. In short I dont want to start with giving a 14 $ right away.

One of the things that I don't know about Skype and that I would appreciate someone explaining is "What is Skype?"
Not as an existential, dialectic entity that represents a tautology but just: What The Hell Is It?
A lot of people think of it as a cellphone, others as a social networking appliance, yet others as an online voicemail answering machine and to a few of us it's just another way of trying to beat the devil at its own game, namely by talking on the phone for free.
Alas, I've learned is neither one thing nor the other. What is a phone that you can't buy? What is a calling card you buy and charges you for calling? What is a client that can't be persuaded to be available commercially yet you can have it for free when you don't need it? Wait, I know the answer to that one: Vista. What is a network of people calling themselves Uberlords? and most of all, what is a business without support? I mean qualified, trained, round-the-clock support? The most help comes from English-challenged overanxious users from across the ocean who have to apologize about their English as if Pidgin was a crime?
And there's the rest of us, just trying to find some answers to our Skype conundrum only to get bungled in the process of articulating our questions and then we're told "we can't start a topic" in this GENERAL DISCUSSION forum so we have to hijack someone else's well intentioned thread?
Jeeeshh....

I also have the right to take the 5th amendment. So...

Yes, that is all nice.
Here's one that isn't.
I just purchased a Plantronics headphone advertised on the Skype shop for 24.99 euros TTC, half price delivery and 5 hours free Skype-out.
The price increased with VAT, delivery was full price, and only one hour arrived by DHL.
Customer service does not reply to my several requests.
I guess the bottom line is profit at any cost??

I have paid for one year of service with SKYPE IN and I am starting to get recorded telemarketing recorded calls. First I have to pay for this SPAM and second, since I live in Thailand and my SKYPE IN phone number is in Florida, I am getting recorded SPAM at 2am!! I can't even scream at them since it is a recording. I have asked SKYPE to do something about this or I will cancel and ask for a refund. Anyone out there know a way to fix this problem?
I don't know if I am on topic for this. I tried to start a new topic and was informed that I was not allowed to create a new topic. Please let me know how one may create a new topic on this forum.

I've just had this today: an e-mail stating my credit has expired and a claim by skype to have sent three reminder e-mails, none of which was received. On a previous occasions the reminder e-mail arrived ok. If they have discontinued sending reminders (even inadvertently), that could be deemed to be sailing pretty close to the wind. It would be doing both skype/ebay and skype users a favour to draw this to their attention. Does anyone know how to contact mission control?
