Hi,

When adding a new listing in skypefind, I noticed there is only a phone number field and no skypename field. Is this on purpose?

regards, Felix

I've raised exactly the same point with Skype - there should be an option to enter the Skypename of the organisation concerned. Its really obvious !! Either Skype have designers with no imagination or ability to think outside the envelope (horrible expression) or they feel that many businesses wouldn't have skypenames.

Well its about time Skype encouraged businesses to register on Skype and to hold this info on Skypefind.

Or it is a blaring and transparent attempt to maximize profit. Skype can charge for SkypeOut calls, but not for Skype to Skype. But it will backfire -- it is so obvious, that the result is for users to loose confidence in Skype's integrity.

When you add a listing - say I was recommending a local resturant, the "listed" company may/may not have a Skype account so you have no need to add a Skype Name.

If you add a listing you don't want people Skyping you to ask all kinds of questions.

I did say you should 'have the option' ! If you were a business and didnt mind having your Skypename displayed - why cant you have the option of choosing it. If you dont have a Skypename - dont choose the option.

What you need and dont have at the moment is a search facility to find all entries in a certain town - whoops !! (have asked for this too giggle.png )

This already shows a good reason NOT to include the Skype nick in the listing: As a business owner you do not have any control over the listing entry, it can be modified by everyone. So, if I were a business owner and I decided to be listed in SkypeFind without my Skype nick (for whatever reason) I could create an entry without it. Sooner or later somebody else might comes across my entry and think "hey, the Skype nick is missing, I'd better add it"......

As long as nobody has exclusive rights over the SkypeFind entries (and esp. the option to display a Skype nick or not) I don't see a point including the Skypename, not even as an option. I am pretty sure not every business using Skype wants to use it for inbound communication as well.

As long as we don't have at least some fixed categories to (pre-)sort the entries you'll never know how to find what you are looking for (just think for a second about the possible keywords for ypur favorite italian restaurant - better search for "pizza", "pasta" and the like or rather for "restaurant", "italian" or the name?)
