Hello,
I have searched the linux forum and did not find a similar thread which covers my problem. If I have overlooked something, I apologize.
Here is the problem. After beeing logged into Skype for approx. 30 min the sound on outgoing calls, i.e. at both sender and receiver sides, is interrupted and I have to end the phonecall and restart Skype to solve the problem. I am not sure if that is always happen or only if I had made previously a phonecall shortly after login and then leaving the pc idle.
I suspect this is a bug in the ALSA implementation of Skype. I am using version 1.3.0.53_API on Debian 4.0 Etch with ALSA version 1.0.13-4 and kernel 2.6.18-4-686. Skype is the only sound application running, especially I am not using any sound daemons. The onboard soundcard on my IBM X23 laptop does not have a hardware mixer, so dmix is enabled by default.
If anybody has made similar experiences with Skype on Linux I would be very happy to get some feedback.
Alexander
