Full Version: Skype sound is horrible after playing a game.

When I boot my computer (OpenSUSE 10.2) and call somebody via Skype, sound is excellent.
After finishing the call, I play my favorite game Quake III Arena. Then, after I quit the game I make
another call via Skype, then the persons who I'm calling complains about a horribble sound, he/she can't
understand me. Still I can hear the other person very well. When I reboot the computer Skype works fine
again till I play Quake again.

It seems that Quake leaves the sounddevice in a different state and Skype expect the sounddevice in a
certain (default) state.
Probably Skype does not initialize the sounddevice very well because all other applications that uses the
sounddevice work very well after playing Quake.

I hope you can solve this in the next version.
(which is scheduled for 2013 I heard...)

Best regards,

Hmm, this sounds a bit odd. Is Skype running whilst you are playing Quake? And do you have any sound managers running (ie. esd, artsd, gstreamer?).

Let me know what sound interface Quake is using (ie. OSS emulation, ALSA directly, or something else) and your ALSA version, and we'll go from there.
