REPOSTED FROM WINDOWS FORUM - HOPE THAT'S OK. (No replies at that end).

Hi - I am successfully running skype 1.03 for linux on a simplymepis box. I want to use skype version 3 on a win XP mce PC that is on the same home network.

I downloaded skype for windows 3 to the Win xp box and tried to log on with the same user account details as the linux box. Skype opened OK but clearly did not log on to the central server, as none of my contacts appeared. I created one for echo123 and tested the setup. It works just fine.

I then tried copying my user profile (all the files under my username) from the linux box to the windows one (having first backed up the relevant directory in windows). After this I rebooted and re-opened skype for windows. Now my contacts list is all there but they are shown as greyed out "question marks".

Does this mean that I have to call all my contacts and ask them to re-verify? I am hoping not.

As the linux version of skype does not seem to have an "exports contacts" facility, I am now stuck.

Can anyone help please?

Thnx in advance

Richard
