My calls using another voip provider (freecall), it has better prices even without skype pro hype kind of marketing; I have removed the real numbers and left the region codes for you to be able to compare, pls note the UK 0845 kind of numbers skype charged me 10 cents per min these guys charge 4 cent per min and no connection charge for stupid consumer stuff. all of these calls were flawless. also notice a typ[ical user does not make hour length calls so pls do calculate the same calls using skypeout with their famous 4 cent per call and get shocked for yourself.

That service does come with its caveats, though:

24.08.2006 GREAT NEWS: Credit will not expire anymore!
We decided to drop the expiry dates for credit. That means your credit will stay valid for ever!

If you buy credit, you will get 90 FREEDAYS (unless stated otherwise). This means you can call all countries in the free destinations list for 90 days at no costs. When the 90 days are over, you will keep your credit, and a minimal rate will be charged.

So, the countries in the free list are only free to call if you're a regular user and you top up your account at least once every 90 days - for infrequent users like myself, that works out to be equivalent (or maybe slightly worse) value for money than Skype, even with its connection charges!

errrmm ...

When you've run out of freedays, you'd be paying mostly 1c for destinations that Skype charges at 1.7 cents

Not many people would agree to that being more expensive, especially after the calls were free to begin with, so average under one cent

If you made 20 5 minute calls per month, you'd have €1 left of your initial €10 after a year on the Betamax account. On Skype you'd have spent €29.76. Now remind me which is cheaper?

Of course nothing is free , but everything is cheaper with my new VoIP to PSTN provider. It has been a while since I opened my account and all I have spent is 8€ , with skype even before connection fee €8 was vanishing so rapidly. If they can make profit with these prices so can Skype , but no not enough they added a connection fee devil.png

Freecall and Voipstunt are part of the Betamax family. Days to expire on Voipstunt are 120 unlike 90 on Freecall. I just wish Betamax would just have 1 service so avoid all this confusion with different T&C's and services.

Plus Voipbuster has Voipbuster pro but Voipstunt doesnt worried.png

they do have an awkward strategy, over 10 different names thye operate.freecall has the best rates for the destinations (3 countries) I call so I use that. if they only had one name under which they operate I doubt you could get specific set of countries for such good prices.
