Full Version: Apple Iphone + skype?
Skype Community > English > Mac OS X

Man the Iphone is really nice! Wi-Fi, OSX, phone, Ipod, 2 mg pix cammera, lots of software. The controls are fantastic.

Will the OSX version of skype work with the apple Iphone?

Just a side note. I think the disavantage of the Iphone is the fact that there is not video in (maybe the camera does that?) and if there is , it should be in the front for video conferencing.

I think I may drop my TREO 700w and pic up this thing.

Thanks

There's all ready a thread about the iPhone here:

No you can't run Skype on it as it's a custom version of OSX and Apple will be controlling what software is allowed on it, at least for the foreseeable future.

Yeah but you may be able to make/use a Widget.. I've heard some discussion about this on Digg.com. (probably the best place to keep up on the topic, besides this forum and certain apple blogs)..

That's assuming Apple would make it possible for you to put a widget on there. With their deal with cingular I think it likely that they would actively stop rival phone services appearing on the iPhone.

The situation could be different outside the US where Apple might not have to make such an exclusive deal.

Look, the iphone has already been jailbroken. It can run a lot of native applications without the blessing of Steve Jobs.

Come on skype, give us an iphone version.
