Hi, I have just had a creepy experience while I was chatting with my friend. Someone somwhere signed in and joined the chat with my buddyname, so he was answering my friend just like I was doing! he said he was in a netcafe where this skype had been used and not logged out. I have used a netcafe 3 months ago, not very possible that I forgot to sign out. I changed the password now. Any help? Thanks!

if you change your password and sign out and back in using the new password, it either forces all other running instances to log out (after certain events) or it blocks them from calling but keeps them logged in... however, i have noticed some problems (flaws) in this just now, and one of them is that if a chat message is sent to an account that was not logged out forcefully then that account can still send/recieve chat messages.

i'll post in some more detail elsewhere and put a link here

but changing ur passowrd, logging out, and then logging back in with new password, will in most cases cause other instances to log off. so there will be minimal damage. they more they try and do with your account the more likely it will force logout.

wow, thank you lukman. i read your other post with the trials as well. the only option for me now seems that I request my account to be deleted altogether, and make another account for myself. or...do you have any other ideas?
it is also a bit creepy to think about the possibility that your password can somehow be traced back when using a public computer (as I am very sure I logged out after my session there).
thank you again,
rita

you're welcome rita.

if you have any credits in your account, you can request skype refund them, so you might like to do that before requesting they delete the account (also search the forums for deleting account as there is a special e-mail address you can write to)

creating a new account if you have no credit in this account seems easiest option, but do notify all your contacts.

i dont think your password was traced back. it's possible as you logged in the "login automatically" and "remember password" options were enabled.

best of luck to you.

This is how ot do it if you have to but I would advise you to just watch you account for a few day to see if the same thing happens or your credit if you have any goes down.

How do I delete a Skype user name/account

First thing you need to do is DO NOT log in to your account any more and remove all the details from you profile and then when a search is done all it will say is you Skype name and the last time you were on line.

Next type %AppData% into either your browser address bar or windows explorer hit CR and this will show you all the Skype Usernames you have on you PC, you then just delete the folder of the username you want to remove.

Normally you cannot remove you account fully from Skype but in exceptional circumstance follow below and Skype might remove it from there system but there is no guarantee this will be done.

What rights do You have and how can You contact Skype?

If You would like to exercise your right to view, correct, complete or remove Your Personal Data, please contact Skype at delete@skype.com. Within a reasonable period of time and upon verification of your identity, Skype will fulfil Your request, provided Skype will not act contrary to applicable legislation by fulfilling Your request

Hi Rocketman,
Thanks. I typed AppData but did not find CR - what is this? anyway, I deleted all my partners, profile, chat texts, sent an email to delete@skype.com, and created a brand new skype name. I won't use the old one anymore, and my friends will have an eye on it. I guess I have done everything I can. thanks for the support.

CR= the enter key or carrige return key.

Lukman, Rocketman,
You wont believe this - I changed everything, was using my new skype name with a friend - when that bastard appeared again on my friend's side! the same thing again, using my friend's password now, writing to me! I think this is a serious hacker, and Skype needs to be notified. (He is writing in Hungarian).
he might have downloaded his password using my skype before (he also said to us: Hacking passwords is not that hard, dude!)
this is getting crazy - what do you think?

i did'n understand any of this, lukeman - how would someone pull my leg by scaring the sh*t out of me and my friend in 2 separate events, using my and my friend's password? how do I do a screen shot, and how will you read Hungarian? sorry, i am just a bit nervous.....

well, atm i cannot be 100% sure someone is using your password or your friends. the reason being, i do not know how much you know about skype, you might be amuch more advanced user than myself, or you might be a new user. hence i would need a screen shot to be able to see the situation for myself.

what makes this difficult for me to help with is not you, but my experience on the forum. someone was recieving authorisation requests for example when they had set the privacy settings to "only allow chats from contacts" and this was freaking them out because they were getting messages from strangers... what they did not know was that no one was hacking into their account, authorisartion messages are not chat messages... so i don't want to sit here and assume what you might know and what you might not know, that would waste both our time. it might just be someone has included you both into a group/public chat and neither of you have exited properly.

also, first time you said he said you left your account running in a net cafe. now he is claiming he hacked in... that makes me think he's lieing in both instances. if he was hacking, why would he have said net cafe? no reason to... if i was hacking and i was not so shy, i would just say i've hacked in.

also first you said he appeared to your friend and to you, but using your buddy name. that sounds like a group chat. and now he is appearing to you using your friends name.

i'm not asking for the screen shot so i can read what he wrote, am not interested in that... i would like the screen shot so i can see what is happening in the skype window.

the screen shot button is a button on your keyboard saying something like "PrtSc" or "print screen"

it is usually on the top right, near the delete button or the "Ins" button.

"sorry, i am just a bit nervous....."

it's ok, i would say, unless some of ur contacts begin complaining, it's not much to worry about as i doubt this person can do much. if they were able to they'd have caused problems already.

what's happened has happened, being nervous won't make it disappear, but it will make things look worse than they were, just remain calm, and we'll get it figured out.

oh, once u've done the print screen, you need to open say microsoft paint or other imaging software, and paste it, u can even paste it into microsoft word. and then send to me as an e-mail attachment.
