Is their a function on Skype that allows a user to see who did a search for your contact information (before they actually ask to be a contact)? Or, is it possible to see who individual contacts have searched for?

Or...is the only time that someone is made aware that they are being searched for is when the contact request comes through?

TIA! I'm a little worried!!

only when the request comes through.

otherwise, it is totally secret, no one knows who is searching for them.

the thing is, who you searched for is private info, so no one else can see that. so you should be safe if you have been searching for people youshould not have been searching for wink.png

so there's no way i can tell if a particular person has found me on here...unless they send the contact request...

I have that right?

my concern is that technically they can still see if i'm online or not just by searching for my contact info and never requesting to be a contact...

hehe well i am guilty of that sometime, but not in this instance. what about if you request their profile? is that secret too?

(I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions...just a little worried about a particular person and would like to verify if what i've heard is correct...but i'm thinking that's not possible...)

no, they will see you as "?" meaning they do not know if you are online of not... they simply know you are registered...but not if you are online or offline or any other status.

what do u mean "request profile"... if you view the profile then no...they still do not know...but if they have a link in their profile to their website, then they might be able to tell if you click on the link... but they cannot tell if you only look at profile.

well essentially he's been claiming to know when i'm coming and going based on online activity. and i don't really use any other type of im service that he would be able to track, so i was thinking he was just checking my skype profile. but if he can't see anything by just searching or seeing the profile, then it's probably all hot air. so thanks for your responses!!

Unless (only) if you approve (authorise) can people track if you are online, and then you can go to invisible which again hides your status.

It's not pleasant to feel that someone is watching you and you feel unsettled by them.

Presumably you have blocked them ?

You could always set up a brand new Skype Account and be careful about what you put in your profile. Just forget about your old one and let them continue to track one. Tell your real friends that you are switching over.

Also I would be careful about your Skype forum id - can you be traced back to your Skype id - ie are they the same - they may be watching you posting here. Ditto with MSN. Yahoo, Gmail etc.

Hope it improves for you and that it doesn't spoil your christmas. hi.png
