Can the new Jawbone Bluetooth headset be used with Skype on my Bluetooth equipped IBM Thinkpad computer? If so, are there any special software or setup issues to deal with? I've never used Bluetooth with Skype, but it seems that it would be very convenient. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dan

I have exactly the same question. I have installed my Jawbone, the computer seems to recognize it, I have set Skype up to look for Bluetooth headset, but when I run the audio test it still defaults to my computer's speakers. Any thoughts would be welcome.

I wrote to Aliph about this last week and here is their reply:

In answer to your second question we're not supporting PC or MAC Bluetooth compatibility right now due to the large variability in the performance of computer Bluetooth systems. But we will be releasing a Bluetooth dongle for computers in the spring timeframe. We know a number of Jawbone users connecting with their computer for VOIP with success but that is not something that we currently support.

Hi,

I'm using a Jawbone plus a Bluetooth dongle on MS Vista. I have the green Bluetooth icon going so I know the headset is connected to the PC OK. In the Skype audio options I see Bluetooth AV or Bluetooth SCO options, but no matter which I choose, the microphone/speaker is not working on the headset. Any thoughts? I tried to follow the advice in the posting http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=10822 but to no avail..

Thanks!

This is a very helpful article about connecting the Jawbone to Vista

The Jawbone headset can successfully be paired with a Bluetooth dongle using the Toshiba stack. Skype recognizes it and I have placed calls that have good sound. It is not "as clear" as a corded headset but that is the price you pay for wireless freedom.

I purchased the Kensington USB Micro Adapter that can be found here:

http://us.kensington.com/html/14409.html

The drivers on the CD were dated 2007 and did not successfully pair with the Jawbone. Downloading the drivers from Kensington's web site fixed the problem. New drivers found here (at the time this was written):

http://us.kensington.com/html/1492.html

No additional steps were required, except to remove the existing drivers, which I was prompted to do when I ran the install for the new 5.10.08 driver setup.

When I put the Jawbone in pairing mode and told the Bluetooth application to search, it immediately found the Jawbone and asked for the PIN (0000 for Jawbone).

That is it. Works great!
